Ieverybody says "three chords and the truth is all you need". I prefer 5 chords and a beautiful little lie.
Bonnie Hayes is an American singer/songwriter, musician and record producer. Perhaps best known for penning "Have A Heart" and "Love Letter," which restored Bonnie Raitt to superstardom with the multi-platinum, multi-Grammy-winning CD Nick of Time, Hayes' 80's pop-punk record Good Clean Fun on LA label Slash records yielded the anthemic college radio hit, Shelly's Boyfriend. Manifesto rave-up Girls Like Me from the same record ramped up the titles of the cult favorite film "Valley Girl". Her songs have been covered by artists as diverse as Cher, Adam Ant, Booker T & the MG's, Robert Cray and Bette Midler.
Hayes has also enjoyed success as a sidewoman, touring as keyboardist/backup singer with 80's icons Billy Idol and Belinda Carlisle, as well as Huey Lewis and the News. Later artist releases include Empty Sky, released on the Fuel label ,and Love in The Ruins in 2006. An early adopter of digital recording technology and adept arranger, Hayes produced records for blues and Americana artists such as Tommy Castro at her studio, the Tone Palace in San Rafael, CA until 2013 .
Bonnie also a committed and passionate educator. She created and implemented programs at the Blue Bear School of Music in San Francisco, and at other retreats and schools, until she moved to Boston in 2013 to serve as the chair of the Songwriting department at the Berklee College of Music. She continues to write, play and record as her schedule permits.
