Put something interesting here......
Bonnie Hayes is an American singer/songwriter, recording artist, musician and record producer. Perhaps best known for penning "Have A Heart" and "Love Letter," which restored Bonnie Raitt to superstardom with the multi-platinum, multi-Grammy-winning CD Nick of Time, Hayes' 80's pop-punk record Good Clean Fun on LA label Slash records yielded the anthemic college radio hit, Shelly's Boyfriend. Manifesto rave-up Girls Like Me from the same record ramped up the titles of the cult favorite film "Valley Girl". Her songs have been covered by artists as diverse as Cher, Adam Ant, Booker T & the MG's, Robert Cray and Bette Midler.
Hayes has also enjoyed success as a sidewoman, touring as keyboardist/backup singer with Billy Idol on the Cradle of Love tour, and with Belinda Carlisle on her Heaven tour. Later artist releases include Empty Sky, released on the Fuel label and Love in The Ruins in 2006. An early adopter of digital recording technology and adept arranger, Hayes was a partner in the Tone Palace Studio in San Rafael, CA , where she produced records for blues and Americana artists such as Tommy Castro and Tracy Blackman.
As an educator, Hayes created and implemented songwriting and youth programs at the Blue Bear School of Music at Fort Mason in San Francisco until she moved to Boston in 2013 to serve as the chair of the Songwriting department at the Berklee College of Music. She continues to write, play and record as her schedule permits.
I come from a family of 7 kids, most of us musicians, the rest doctors, all weirdos----a quintessential American family. We sang Tom Lehrer songs after dinner instead of watching TV, and most of us kept that dark humor and musical framework. I'm a heavy reader, lifelong learner, and died-in-the-wool cynic with a broken, romantic heart. Playing music and writing songs saved my life, gave me a life, gave me my tribe. I believe in the power of music to rewrite the narratives of this world, and in my responsibility to support that process in my work as an artist, mentor and educator.
